A local business will kick off a couple of fundraisers to benefit the Children’s Miracle Network (CMN) this month.

Brenda Miller, inventory manager, team trainer and CMN Coordinator, said event planners are in the midst of developing their campaign this year at the Marlow Love’s station. Miller, along with Store Manager Kim Griffith, Shift Lead and Team Trainer Kenadi Carter and Restaurant Manager Mykayla Rowe, are planning two events for their upcoming fundraiser.

The first event, Miller said, will take place on Saturday, Sept. 10 when they will host a rummage sale in the north parking lot at Love’s in Marlow.

“We will be accepting donations which can be brought to the store located at 701 S. Broadway in Marlow, anytime between 6 a.m. and 10 p.m.,” she said. “We also need folding tables and clothes racks if anyone would like to let us borrow them.”

According to Miller, they will have raffle tickets for sale during the rummage sale, where the winner will receive a cooler prize package which will be donated by Miller/Busch.

Following the rummage sale, they will host a kiddie carnival and corn hole tournament on Saturday, Sept. 24, beginning at 9 a.m.

“We will have games and prizes for the kids and kids-at-heart which will be located in our North parking lot,” she said. “The cost is $5 per person.”

According to Miller, the corn hole tournament will take place in the field behind Love’s.

“Teams can pick up a registration form from the store,” she said. “The tournament has a twist, it’s a wacky costume tournament where we encourage our teams to dress in their wackiest costumes they can muster.”

Miller said along with the costume contest, they will sell votes for the best costume by way of a 50/50 raffle.

“One lucky voter will walk away with half the pot,” she said.

Corn hole registration is $50 per team, but for those who donate a bag of candy toward the kiddie carnival, it will be $30 to register a team.

“We need lots of volunteers for both events from corn hole judges, to working a game, to corn hole boards, face painters, clowns, selling raffle tickets and wristbands, etc.,” she said. “Teams have until the Sept. 17 to turn in their registrations.”

Miller said they would love to gather some “business challenges” from companies who are able to form a team to participate alongside other companies.

To crown the event, there will be a Corn hole Queen/Princess contest, which will be open to contestants 19 and under.

“It's free to participate,” she said. “All we require is a release form and a 4x6 or 5x7 picture of the contestant.”

Tickets will be sold for $1 per vote.

“The (participant) with the most votes will be crowned queen,” she said. “Second will be princess.”

At the end of the event, there will be trophies handed out at the corn hole tournament, with prizes including a crown, sash, t-shirt, bouquet and a $25 gift certificate.
