'The nerve on some people...she doesn't want her hair to touch the seat,' a user said

STAVANGER, NORWAY: A woman, who was traveling by airplane, was shocked to find the passenger seated in front of her draping her hair over the back of the seat, nearly dunking the ends in her coffee. Food blogger and solo traveler Julie Christensen, 32, shared a video of the unusual incident on TikTok, adding the caption: “the joy of traveling. #omgjustdont #pleasedont#lol #traveletiquette.”

The video, which has been viewed more than 2.5 million times, shows Julie picking up her coffee cup from the folding table in front of her as she sat on the plane, while another woman’s hair dangled over the back of the seat. Julie said in the comment section, "It was so weird - she started draping her hair over immediately, and she was being very normal about it. At first, I was really surprised, I thought 'Oh, we're doing this?' I didn't see her face at all and she didn't acknowledge me. I just looked at the guy next to me and he laughed. I thought about whether I should say something but I was so tired, so I just laughed about it. Then so much time passed that it felt too late to say something. I wasn't annoyed or anything, because I had so much legroom. It was beautiful, had gorgeous hair, and looked very nice and clean. I wondered 'why would you throw your beautiful clean hair all over this dirty plane', but I guess it's up to her. Keep your hair to yourself, that's my general advice for traveling - especially when you've done such a nice job of brushing it!"

Julie, a traveler from Stavanger, Norway, was visiting family when the woman's dark hair dropped in front of her on an Aegean Airlines flight from Athens to Amsterdam. Julie sat with the passenger's locks dangling over her seat for a staggering five hours during the three-hour flight, which was delayed by an additional two hours. She jokingly remarked that she was tempted to braid the passenger's hair and that as she travels the world eating at restaurants, she has grown accustomed to people's peculiarities. "I was tempted to braid it, but I'm not very good at it," Julie added.

Julie went on to say, "I wasn't going to put anything in her hair or anything, I'm not so evil. There was a lot of weird stuff happening on this particular flight, with people taking their shoes off and sticking their feet on your armrest. I've been to 10 countries since April so I'm used to the weird traveling habits people have. Maybe that's why I didn't react so much to the hair, I just thought 'Oh well, another day in the life!'" On Julie's TikTok video, more than 5,000 people left comments in which they expressed their displeasure with the passenger's lack of ‘travel etiquette.’ One person said, "Some people have no consideration." "People just forget how to act the second they step into an airport,” another added. Someone wrote,  "The nerve on some people...she doesn't want her hair to touch the seat. I would definitely close the tray." "See how many braids you can make before she notices,” yet another user remarked.

According to Fox News, later a spokesperson for Aegean Airlines said, "We definitely want 'all' our passengers to feel comfortable on board… though we didn't have that in mind. We always need to think about the co-passenger."
